About Your Facilitators:
Karen Day integrates mindfulness with psychotherapy at the Daybreak Clinic, and has been personally practicing mindfulness for over 10 years. She has learned about mindfulness-based therapeutic interventions, not only by formal training in mindfulness studies at the University of Toronto, but also by her own self-study through retreats and workshops with the teachers who deeply inspire her, including Pema Chodron and Thich Nhat Hanh.

In 2008, Karen was granted a research fellowship which resulted in an extensive study of mindfulness and meditation in social service work at Centennial College. In partnership with Lorraine Gilks, she co-authored a subsequent inter-disciplinary research initiative, along with cross-professional mindfulness training for teaching and counselling staff at the college.
Karen leads yearly workshops and retreats for professionals, with organizational clients including the Children’s Aid Society, Global Mind Body, and Better Living Health and Community Services.
Lorraine Gilks has been practicing mindfulness and meditation for over 20 years, and completed her MBSR teacher training with world experts Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli. Lorraine is the Founder of 3P Coaching, and the creator of Mind-fit – a comprehensive course on Mindfulness & Meditation, based on the influential Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program.

She has also been the lead on applied research regarding mindfulness education at the post-secondary level through projects with Centennial College in the Toronto area and Aberdeen University in Scotland. Lorraine is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), and holds PCC certification through the International Coach Federation (ICF).
To date, thousands of people and many organizations have completed Mind-Fit training programs and mindfulness workshops with 3P Coaching. Organizations that Lorraine has trained in Mindfulness include the Toronto District School Board, York Region Catholic School Board, St. Michael’s Hospital, Peel Police, and Centennial College. Mind-Fit certification programs for professionals (Coaches, Therapists and Psychologists) have been offered regularly since 2015.
