At 3P Coaching, we define Mindfulness as: ‘the ability and practice of looking deep within ourselves with awareness, noticing and watching our thoughts, emotions, physical sensations and experiences without judgment or attachment.  It is the practice of recognizing and understanding the role that we play in the bigger picture of our lives and world, and understanding who we are at the deepest level. By actively cultivating awareness of self and others, we have the ability and potential to create our own lives and to positively impact the world’.

Mindfulness is a broad-based term that includes meditation and other contemplative exercises that are designed to bring your attention to what is happening in the present moment with your thoughts, your emotions and your physical body.  It is a gateway to discovering your conditioned mental habits, thoughts and beliefs and leads you toward a fulfilling life in which you will live on purpose, consciously and with a heightened awareness, sense of contentment and wholeness.

By paying attention in a new way, mindfulness can be practiced formally (such as meditation) and it can easily be integrated into your life through regular activities that you already do such as: working, eating, exercising, cleaning, relaxing or interacting with your friends and family.

There are many contemplative activities and exercises that can assist you in becoming more mindful.  The most common is meditation. Meditation is a technique that will help you become aware of your thoughts and actions so that you can choose what to focus upon rather than being subject to an uncontrolled mind that drains your energy, keeps you stuck and prevents you from finding peace and fulfillment in life.

Mindfulness is a skill which most of us have never been taught.  For most of our lives our minds and thoughts have run wild and controlled the physical, mental and emotional aspects of our lives.  Once you learn to train your mind, to choose how you want to experience your life, you will notice that you have more power over your life and will enjoy new and exciting revelations about what is possible for you.  You will feel more peace and tranquility and will be able to work through life situations with clarity, confidence and compassion for self and others.
